Apply for funding for after-school care centres
Certain providers of an after-school care centre and an after-school care centre at the school can apply for funding from the state.
Please note that these subsidies are used in full to
- Finance your childcare operation or
- Cover your financial shortfalls through the social organisation of parental contributions.
Please note After-school care centres are youth welfare facilities for children of school age. If you want to set up an after-school care centre, you will need an operating licence from the responsible authority. After-school care centres are either housed in a school building or assigned to a school. They can also be organised across schools and school types.
The following can apply for funding
- the local public youth welfare organisations
- Municipalities
- recognised independent youth welfare organisations (e.g. churches, parents' associations, school support associations, sports clubs)
Excluded from funding are
- Childcare programmes that already receive funding in accordance with other regulations (e.g. by the local authority in accordance with the Child Daycare Act)
- After-school care groups in which boarding school pupils are also looked after
- After-school care groups that care for all-day pupils during the opening hours of an all-day school in accordance with theschool according to the state concept (e.g. Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
- All-day schools in accordance with § 4 a of the School Act (SchG)
- Community schools in accordance with § 8 a of the Schools Act (SchG)

Details
Prerequisite
- Childcare is guaranteed for at least five hours a day on school days from Monday to Friday after school in the morning.
- Independent providers must be non-profit organisations.
- As a provider of a conventional after-school care centre, you also need to be recognised as an independent youth welfare organisation by the youth welfare office.
- After-school care centres at alternative schools must also accept school-age children from other schools and have publicised this option in an appropriate manner.
Procedure
You apply for funding in writing. You will receive the application form from the responsible office. It is also available for download. You can submit it in person or in writing.
Tip: Do you have severalafter-school care groups at different locations? Then you can apply for funding from the second year of existence of the after-school centres in a collective application.
Deadlines
- You can submit the application from 15 November to 31 December of the current school year. This applies to groups that are continued at the beginning of a school year and to groups that are newly established and commence operations after the summer holidays by 15 November.
- Applications received by the Regierungspräsidium after 31 December of the current school year can no longer be considered.

Processing time
The subsidy is determined at the earliest from March of the current school year by means of an authorisation notice.
Miscellaneous
Have you set up a group during the school year? For groups set up in September, the full annual grant is awarded. For groups set up in October, the grant amount is reduced by 1/12. For groups set up in November, the grant amount is reduced by 2/12.
