Further training centres for nursing professions - apply for state recognition

Further training institutions that wish to offer state-regulated further training for the following professions require state recognition:

- Nursing specialist

- Nursing

- Paediatric nursing

- Geriatric nursing

- Curative education nursing

- Maternity care

The state-recognised further training courses offered are each based on a regulation issued by the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The training centre must be recognised by the regional council. Only then may it carry out the further training in accordance with the respective further training ordinance

  • carry out the training,
  • Hold examinations and
  • Issue certificates.

Prerequisite

  • a sufficient number of professionally qualified management and teaching staff.
  • Premises of sufficient size and equipment
  • the appropriate teaching and learning materials.
  • The following must be demonstrated in order to ensure practical professional development:
    • co-operation
      • with a suitable hospital,
      • an outpatient care service or
      • a facility for the elderly or disabled and
    • the qualification of the practical instructors on site
  • The provisions of the respective further training regulations must be observed.

Procedure

Submit the application with all the necessary documents. The competent body will check whether the requirements for state recognition have been met. Once the examination has been completed, you will receive a notification if you are eligible for recognition and thus state recognition. If the requirements for recognition are not met, you will receive a negative decision.

  • Copies of professional certificates and further training certificates of the management and teaching staff
  • Information about the premises in which you would like to set up the training centre (e.g. rental agreement or other planning documents)
  • Co-operation agreements with institutions where the practical training components will take place
  • Information about
    • Curricula and timetables
    • professional assignment of the lecturers and practical instructors on site
    • Type and implementation of the required performance records
    • Form of communication with the practical instructors on site

Note: Do you want to offer several continuing education programmes in accordance with the state's continuing education regulations? Then you must submit the documents for each training programme separately.

Costs

for processing the application and the final notification: EUR 200.00 to EUR 300.00

Note: The competent body must check the recognition requirements separately for each continuing education programme due to the different continuing education content. The costs are therefore incurred separately for each area of further training.

Miscellaneous

The competent body will inspect your facility regularly.
