Show travelling trade for activities not requiring a travel trade card

For certain travelling trade activities, notification to the competent authority is sufficient. In these cases, you do not require a travelling trade licence.

Prerequisite

You must submit a travelling trade notification for activities not requiring a travelling trade licence if you

  • sell or purchase goods and offer services or accept orders in your municipality of residence or the municipality in which you have your place of business and the municipality has no more than 10,000 inhabitants,
  • sell food or other everyday goods from a non-fixed sales outlet or another establishment at regular, short intervals at the same location, or
  • Offer for sale printed matter on public roads, streets, squares or in other public places.

You must also make a notification if

  • You change the object of your trade or expand it to include goods or services that are not customary in your trade or
  • You give up your travelling trade.

Procedure

  • You can register a travelling trade or an "activity not requiring a travel trade card" in person, in writing or electronically.
  • Once you have submitted the application and all documents are complete, the competent authority will check whether all requirements for the notification have been met.
  • If all documents are complete, you have fulfilled your obligation to notify.
  • Only when you have fulfilled the notification obligation may you commence your activity.

Deadlines

You must make the notification before you start your travelling trade activity. If you report your activity late, you will be fined.

  • Copy of identity card or comparable identification document (see above)
  • For proof of the legal form of the company:
    • If you have your registered office in Germany, you will need
      • for registered companies, an extract from the register (e.g. commercial register, register of cooperatives) and for unregistered companies, a copy of the articles of association (e.g. for a partnership under civil law (GbR))
    • If your company is based abroad, you will need documents from the country in which your company is based to prove its legal form.

Costs

The amount of the costs depends on the municipal fee statutes.
